Ikono: NKWOT 2 WARD 8 HAILS GOV UMO ENO’S EDUCATION INTERVENTION

Residents, stakeholders and students in Nkwot 2 Ward 8, Ikono Local Government Area, have lauded Governor Umo Eno for his grassroots-driven approach to governance, particularly in the education sector, through the impactful efforts of his Ward Personal Assistant (PA), Comrade Ezekiel Michael Akpan.

The Governor’s initiative of appointing Ward PAs, aimed at fostering direct community engagement, has yielded remarkable results, with Comrade Akpan spearheading a free JAMB and SSCE preparatory program for students in the ward. The initiative, which covers free JAMB registration, biometric capturing, and intensive tutorial classes, has been described as a major educational boost for students, especially those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Speaking at the registration and biometric capturing centre, a prominent stakeholder and seasoned educator, Mr. Victor Asako, commended the initiative, noting that Comrade Akpan has successfully replicated the Governor’s education agenda at the grassroots.

Mr. Asako

"As someone who has spent over three decades in the classroom, I deeply appreciate this intervention. The Ward PA has engaged experienced tutors to handle key subjects, including English, Mathematics, Literature, Government, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Christian Religious Studies (CRS), and Economics, with an 18-hour weekly teaching schedule. This is a direct reflection of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda in action," he stated.

Beyond Ward 8, our paper observed that the programme has also extended its benefits to students from neighbouring Ibiono Ibom and Ini LGAs,

Expressing gratitude, Joy Aniekan Sunday from Nkwot Nko said, "Governor Umo Eno has truly made us feel the presence of government. This initiative has given many of us a real chance at success. God bless him and our Ward PA."

Goodnews Godwin Udo from Nkwot Ikot Obok Idem added, "This support means everything to us. The burden on our parents has been lifted, and we now have a better shot at excelling. I pray for more blessings upon our benefactor and the Governor."

Gospel Nicholas Sunday from Nkwot Edem Edet remarked, "It is one thing to get a free JAMB form, but it is another to receive quality coaching to pass. This program has provided both. We are grateful."

Mary Michael Otung from Nkwot Ikot Akpasian emphasized, "The ARISE Agenda is changing lives, and we are proof of that. This is a huge opportunity, and I pray for more grace upon those making it possible."
