Former governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Akwa Ibom State, Engr. (Dr) Emem S. Coffie, MFR, has called on the people of the state to approach 2026 with renewed unity, purpose and active citizen participation, describing collective involvement as the strongest driver of sustainable development.
Coffie, who is the MD/CEO Reticulated Global Group, made the call in his New Year message to Akwa Ibomites, where he said the state’s greatest strength lies not only in its natural endowments but in the commitment of its people to a shared vision for progress.
The seasoned engineer and business leader noted that Akwa Ibom is richly blessed with abundant resources, a strong cultural heritage and a resilient population, stressing that these advantages must be deliberately harnessed through collective effort and responsible leadership engagement.
Drawing from his experience in leadership roles across engineering, business and professional institutions locally and internationally, Coffie said enduring development is built on integrity, shared vision and cooperation between leaders and the governed.
According to him, true progress is guaranteed when governance is treated as a partnership, urging citizens to engage leadership constructively while demanding high standards of accountability and performance.
He emphasised the need for deliberate organisation in identifying, nurturing and creating opportunities for youths and women, adding that industrialisation, job creation and strategic investments must be prioritised to ensure policies translate into real benefits for communities.
Coffie further stated that the prosperity of the state depends on inclusive development strategies that leave no segment of the population behind, noting that economic growth must be people-focused and sustainable.
As the new year unfolds, he encouraged Akwa Ibomites to remain united and committed to building a state that works for everyone, expressing optimism that 2026 would be marked by peace, productivity and shared advancement.
He concluded by wishing residents and their families a peaceful and prosperous New Year, while reaffirming his belief in the collective capacity of Akwa Ibom people to shape a better future for the state.
