Christmas Unplugged: Residents, Visitors Applaud Ingenuity of Sir Charles Udoh

 



The Christmas Unplugged festival in Akwa Ibom State is receiving accolades from residents and visitors alike for its unparalleled creativity and innovative approach under the adept management of Sir Charles Udoh, the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism.


The month-long festival, hosted at the Christmas Park Arena on Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, opened its doors on 1st December, 2023, and is set to captivate hearts until 1st January, 2024. 


Designed to encapsulate the true essence of the yuletide season, the festival, supervised by the Offot Ukwa born top-notch Brand Manager and ex-Banker; Sir Charles Udoh, serves as a dynamic platform for promoting peace, entertainment, cultural display, and talent showcases.


In an exclusive interview, Thursday at the festival grounds, Mr. Ndifreke Usen Okon, a car dealer from Mbak Ekpe in Ibesikpo Asutan LGA, expressed his admiration, describing this year's Christmas Unplugged as the best edition yet. 


He commended the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno as well as the organizers for curating a diverse array of activities, including traditional dances, cultural displays, and delectable food, making it an unparalleled experience for attendees.


"I've never attended a festival quite like this one. The positive vibe is infectious, and I'm having a great time," Mr. Ndifreke shared.


Ms. Ruth Erhirhie, a festival attendee, lauded the educational aspect of this year's event, emphasizing the thoughtful dedication of each day to a different cultural theme. 


"It's a wonderful idea for non-indigenes like us to learn about unique cultures, attires, cuisines, and traditions. The State Government's initiative is truly promoting the Akwa Ibom's tourism industry," she remarked.


On his part, Barr. Chinedu Anselem from Delta state, expressed his admiration for the organizers, praising their creativity and excellence in executing the festival.


Meanwhile, vendors at the Christmas Unplugged echoed similar sentiments, celebrating increased foot traffic and sales, attributing it to the event's side attractions and the Pastor Umo Eno administration's desire to support local businesses.


Ms. Ndanti Masori, a vendor from Oron LGA, shared her gratitude, stating, "The organizers have done a fantastic job of promoting local businesses and bringing people together to celebrate."


Observing the festival's impact on the local economy, she expressed optimism about future Christmas unplugged and her determination for continued support for the State Government and Pastor Umo Eno's ARISE agenda.
